Where it all started
Hello, I’m Mercedes A. Cooper, the author of several titles. Welcome to my first journal post on my own website!
While I love exploring various genres, my true passion lies in fantasy. I’m captivated by the wonder of magic, the thrill of adventure, and the timeless allure of supernatural creatures. But which creatures are truly immortal? Are they the vampires in Red of Royal, the werewolves in Tomorrow’s Alpha, or the elves in Asarune?
My mom began reading the first Harry Potter book to me when I was four, before I was diagnosed with dyslexia. From that point on, she read each new book to me as it was released, and sometimes my nanny—her mother—would join in. I distinctly remember my nanny reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to me over the phone after my mom, little brother, and I moved to Oshawa when I was ten.
That first Harry Potter book sparked my interest in authors and eventually led to my love of reading during my teenage years. From that time on, I knew I wanted to be an author, and I would tell anyone who would listen. While most kids dreamed of becoming astronauts, princesses, pirates, or doctors—which is great—I was determined to become a successful author.
